Ready to get started, but not sure where to begin?
AHA’s Beginner’s Program gives you a variety of classes and options from which to choose to learn the basics and take the first steps towards practice of yoga.
Iyengar Beginner’s Yoga
Learn the fundamentals of Iyengar yoga in a fun, fast-paced setting. Experience the joy and freedom you can begin to feel in your body through yoga practice. Students are introduced to basic standing and seated poses. Great place to get started in your practice or for a lively practice of basic poses.
Foundations of Iyengar Yoga
This class lays the foundation for your practice and will bring you the understanding and confidence to practice basic standing and seated yoga poses. Appropriate for all levels of students, you will learn the key actions to practice a variety of poses in other classes or to develop a home practice as part of your routine.
Iyengar Level 1
This class can be taken as a starting point or after completing our Beginner’s or Foundations classes. Basic yoga poses, including standing, seated and twisting poses with an introduction to inversions and backbends. Emphasis on safety and alignment in the method of BKS Iyengar.
For students who may be less flexible, not so strong (or both), have a particular limitation, or would prefer a more slowly paced, less rigorous class. Positively ageless! Appropriate for pre- and postnatal students as well.
Prefer to learn one-on-one to begin? Schedule a private session to learn the basics and have your individual questions and needs addressed. Privates can be a good building block or a way to develop a practice if you have a particular health issue that requires specific adjustments.
